This is strange. As in curious. As in someone throw a clutch of disparate elements against a sonic canvas then left them to see what stuck. The result is quite outstanding. Like an assault on the senses you don’t quite know which way to turn as layers of sound build into an ingenious conclusion on Trials Of Life. Offset by deep cuts of gritty percussion the surrounding, warmer tones are found in amongst unsuspecting places care off a succession of heavy duty stabs, chimes and pulses amounting to mind, body and most certainly soul. The brisk tones of Wavey follows demanding attention alongside twists and turns of electronic intensity in tantalising, thrilling fashion while the explicitly deep IIIumine completes this excellent release, investigating the spaces in between via grainy, analogue enquiry like each note was the product of some serious consideration.
