Nirosta Steel – Dry Ice – Buddhist Army

Nirosta Steel translates as Steven Hall who you will know from Brooklyn’s Arthur’s Landing. His music feels all sorts of wonderful fusing left-field instrumentation together with technology and of course his thoughtful, probing vocals. Retaining a sense of history without being shallowed by the past at times you’re presented with Blues like sculptures, at others heart-warming poignancy such as the rich harmonies generated on Lost In Thought (co-written the late Arthur Russell). Also containing Dancefloor numbers reshaped by Sleazy McQueen and Colombian duo Vagabundo Club Social adding extra breadth to the scope of sounds on offer. Originally released as a limited CD-only in 2003, Dry Ice has now been remastered sounding equally robust and imaginative with never a dull moment dreamt of.
