Greg fenton reviews SOYUZ featuring Asha Puthli & Sven Wunder – Spring Has Sprung – Mr Bongo
What a wonderful piece of music weaving spells while causally casting emotions across landscapes of maybes. It may not really matter if the title refers to the delicate vibrancy of spring or the blast of summer heat as each season suggests what is and what could be. What does in essence count however are the words themselves talking about the morning sun, hearts coming together, and going with the flow. All sentiments we like to think could apply to each of us in our busy, unforgiving worlds, and with Asha Puthli’s stunning, enlightened vocal delivery it might prove possible.
Musically this is a classic blend of Jazz and the sound of exotic cinema teaching us a thing or two about mood, musicality, and expression. It’s gorgeous you should listen to it.
