Greg Fenton reviews Birds of Mind – Body Language Vol. 25 – Get Physical Music
Birds of Mind exist in that explosive space between the rhapsody of melody and the heavier undercurrent of fiery intensity, occupying not so much the middle ground but the reaches of either calling. Their music is tasteful and sensually crafted and you can hear that soulful, musical refrain running throughout this selection. However, the tracklist has an ever-present eye on being plugged into contemporary ethos as sounds fizz with electrical impulse and anticipation. Try the swirling arpeggios of the wonderful Miss You Babe (below) as a case in point.
Get Physical marks the 25th release of the series with this collection of productions and remixes from Parisian based artists Birds of Mind who deliver this diverse declaration of moods and atmosphere while ably demonstrating the duo’s adeptness at moulding sweet voices on their music as it does when creating remixes for their delicate version of DJ T and Cari Golden’s – City Life.
The word refreshing springs to mind because this combination of the musically rewarding alongside the bustling energy of modern discourse works so notably as we rapidly approach the future of 2025.
