Greg Fenton reviews Barac – Hypnotic Grayscale EP – Yecad
Barac’s deep dive into pace, movement, and esoteric atmospheres rewards in equal measure. Driven by a punchy tempo and various offset keys, sounds, and notes the rhythm section is soon joined by the hypnotic pulse of splashing snares and quick-fire percussion resulting in ten-plus minutes of the simmering Hypnotic Grayscale. The bubbling rhythms continue on the perkier Everything That Is Seen Comes From The Unseen, which punctuates the heavenly groove with excitable arpeggios, leaving the replenishing chimes of He Restores My Soul to satisfy via mysterious voices, gentle keys, and blurred sound effects brilliantly enhancing the field of vision.
