I don’t just love this because it has the word Jazz in one of its titles. I love it because it is brilliant. Shinning like shooting stars. And at a comparable speed. Coasting with an effortless cool the musical blasts of smoky saxophone inhabit a night-time world of experience, fusing past notation together with the expectation of today’s imaginary musical world.
The breathless pace of Sax Paradiso serves the tempo justice and while the cool breeze is felt when the pads hit, this proves to be as much about soulful reflection as power and definition. Perhaps ironically, Jazz Affair feels slightly less jazzy than its predecessor, although compounded by many of the very same elements, it again erupts brimming with fizzing energy plus an expanse of meaning revealed in amongst its soaring rhythms.
